Ria Knapp is a designer, illustrator and art director based in New York City by way of New England. She has a diverse decade of experience in visual communication and a drive for creating unique work that engages audiences, grows businesses and furthers missions. She believes thoughtful branding is at the heart of this work.
Ria began her career in journalism and research, helping launch campaigns and initiatives for Patagonia, The Trust for Public Land, and The Harvard School of Public Health.
After a career pivot toward design, she continues to bring an investigative approach — deep-rooted in curiosity — to each new design project. From her freelance studio in Brooklyn, Ria currently works with clients that run the gamut from large businesses to startups, nonprofits and one-woman entrepreneurs.
Ria holds an undergraduate degree from Boston University and graduate degrees from Harvard University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
Outside of design, she loves to run, practice yoga, take photos, and explore the city with her husband and pup, Mochi. She’s delighted to be a part of 2019 SVA Masters in Branding class.
