Tara Chen

Xinyu Chen (“Tara”) was designed, made and developed in an unconventional time in China – the 80’s. She grew up surrounded by sewing machines and porcelain dolls – at an original design manufacturing factory – which cultivated her know-how of production and design. She moved to Shanghai and worked as a fashion designer for a local ‘Designed in China’ brand, Areté. Following her years in Shanghai, Tara moved to New York City working for local art galleries, and more importantly, to watch people.

With a BFA degree in Art Design and Management from the Nanjing University of the Arts, her goal is to study in the USA. Why? It is simple: she failed miserably during her political and military theory classes at her said arts university in China.

Tara believes that “rules are made to be broken”. She wants to integrate her creativity, management skills and problem solving abilities into her dream position – as an art or creative director for ‘fun’ brands.

The curriculum for The Masters in Branding Program allows students to create frameworks to guide brand, design and business development, critically evaluate brand, business, marketing and design strategies and Master the intellectual link between leadership and creativity. Learn more...
