Kelsy graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Graphic Design and her professional career began client side at the Kansas City Chiefs. From there, she worked for an international packaging company where she was responsible for the co-creation and branding of two national campaigns, four conferences, and a design competition held at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After moving to Chicago, she switched to the agency side where she led design projects for nonprofits and fortune 500 companies alike; her favorites from each category being the Chicago Podcast Coalition and Google. During this time she also fell in love with the Chicago Design Museum, where she volunteered as a member of the Exhibit Design Committee and displayed her own work in the show Unfolded. Her designs have been awarded one gold and three silver ADDYs, and reside in permanent collections at the Chicago Design Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago.
Kelsy is enthusiastic to attend the Masters in Branding Program because she believes that branding is one of the last forms of rhetoric that can bring about real change. Coming out of the program she wants to use the knowledge that she’s gained to connect intuitive marketers, brand managers, and analytics within organizations so those organizations can more effectively connect with culture.
Branding aside, Kelsy is enthusiastic about many things — books, interpersonal communication, podcasts, burning man, and her dog Batman are notably high on the list.
