Class 2013

I believe we all have something to share, a story, an idea, a vision, and life is about telling your story. I tell mine through my love of design, music, images, and family. I write, I sing, I take photos, I produce, I create. I have always had a passion for brand creation and generating ideas. To me there is no greater satisfaction then seeing an organically generated idea, planned, developed, and executed to bring the original thought to fruition. I am student of life, an independent thinker, an idealist, lover of fine cuisine, and a gemini.

David's Succes Story

Before the program, David was a freelance marketing consultant. After graduation he became a Production Associate at Local Projects.

How has the program affected your career path?

The program was a tremendous learning experience for me both personally and professionally. I knew going into the program that I wanted to open new doors for myself and my career, but I could have never imagined the amazing opportunities that were presented to me. From classmates, to professors, to speakers, meeting so many people from all different types of backgrounds really exposed me to so many areas of the design world, and ultimately led me to where I am today. But above all, the program truly opened my mind to a whole new way of thinking, a way of approaching challenges, a way of defining who you are, and when you think about it, that is what branding really about. Branding is about have a unique perspective, having a point of view or and idea and being able to stand by it. The program has given me the confidence and ability to commincate ideas, an invaluable skill in the world of branding and design.

What types of jobs do you feel qualified for after graduating?

I believe the knowledge and experience we received in the branding program has equipped us for any type of job in the design world. From strategy to design, design to production, branding and brand thinking is an applicable skill at any stage in the process. I have learned that using the thought processes and approaches we are taught throughout the program can be applied to any project. The program also forces you to appreciate and become comfortable with the unknown. Which, in an industry where their are no right or wrong answers and a world full of unknowns, is a valuable asset. To not be afraid of not knowing the solution right away, but being equipped with the tools to work your way through any challenge is something that any employer can appreciate.

What other career success have you had since graduating?

Upon graduating from the branding program I was hired by Local Projects, a media design firm. I had been an intern with the company since the beginning of the second semester, an opportunity that had been presented to me through the program. The owner of Local Projects had been a guest on a Design Matters that I attended. I was immediately drawn to the work they had done so I reached out to him about interning with the company. Throughout my internship I was able to apply everything I was learning in the program. From design, to business, to culture, I realized that I was continuously finding ways to incorporate all the knowledge we were being taught, ultimately leading me to find a place within the company. After completing my internship and graduating from the program, I was offered a full time position with Local Projects as a Production Associate. To me, my success story is being able to be a part of a company as innovative and forward thinking as Local Projects. To be excited to go to work everyday, create meaningful work, and hopefully change the way people think about the world around them, is success to me.
